The storied 19th-century schooner was replicated in a $3.1-million project undertaken by Mystic Seaport shipwrights. Steven Spielberg's controversial 1997 film, "Amistad," shed new light on the ship's history: en route from Havana, 53 West African slaves fought a bloody battle to take over the slave ship, only to be recaptured in America before they were eventually freed. - B.F. Family-run since 1881, this is the last steam-powered cider mill in New England. Clyde's recently received a National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark Award. Fresh cider is made daily during the Fall. Clyde's is also a bonded winery, producing hard ciders and apple wines. Open seasonally, seven days a week. Handicapped accessible. Historic site.
